Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder (born Winona Laura Hornowitz) was born in Winona Minnesota. Her parents named her after her hometown. Michel Horowitz was her father and Cynthia Palmer, his mother, were both authors as well as editors. Ryder's dad was born into a Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. She has two younger half-siblings, Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder relocated with her family members to Mendocino County California at the age of seven. The town didn't even have electricity. Ryder was a voracious bookworm and would spend her days reading books as there was no television. Ryder started to take acting classes at American Conservatory Theatre when she was 12 years old. In 1986 she was offered her first big-screen role in the film Lucas she was only fifteen years old. Ryder was bullied throughout her time in high school. Ryder believed that her future as an actor would be able to make a difference. Sadly that didn't happen. But that didn't stop her making plans for her future. In 1988, when Tim Burton released Beetlejuice that was her breakthrough. Ryder kept playing successful roles in several movies. In 1993, Ryder was in the running twice for Academy Awards.
