Whitney Houston and Dana Bash

Whitney Elizabeth Houston, born 9 August 1963 to the musically inclined family of Newark New Jersey is the daughter of Gospel star Cissy Houston and John Russell Houston Jr. She's also the cousin of singer Dionne Warwick. In Newark Whitney started singing with the church choir in the early years of her childhood. at the age of 15, she joined her mom in backing vocals in Chaka's smash Im Every Woman from 1978. Then, she performed background vocals for Lou Rawls & Jermaine jackson and even her mother. The singer was first a featured performer for the The New York-based New York Funk band Material. The quality of her vocal performance attracted the attention of the major label Arista which she joined in 1983. The debut Whitney Houston album was released in the year 1985. It would become one of the most successful albums by an artist. A number of hit singles, such as Saving All My Love For You How Do I know You Give Good Love and The greatest Love of All were released from the album, setting her up for a Beatles-beating seven consecutive US number ones. It sold three million copies the first year as well as 25 million around the world. She won her first six Grammy Awards.
